Description
The mysticytes are tall beautiful humanoids that are well built and perfectly toned. They have a single small horn that protrudes
from their head, giving them the appearance of being unicorn descendants. Pure white skin covers their entire body, and it is always perfect and
unblemished. The hair and eyes of a mysticyte are silver, and both have the fluidity of mercury. If their hair is touched, it will feel very soft
and slick, and appear to move of its own volition.
Origin
Mysticytes used to live in skycities that floated above the clouds of Caxtrin. From these floating cities, the mysticytes lived
peaceful lives and watched over the people on the surface. Though the people on the surface of the world could catch a glimpse of these skycities
from time to time, it was believed that they were abandoned since they were unreachable, even through airships. These cities soared through the air
on mystical islands made up of a porous rock known to the mysticytes as filtinium (fil-te-ne-um). When the Darkyns began their invasion upon the
world, these skycities smashed to the ground and caused great casualties. It is believed that the darkening of the skies somehow played a part in
weakening the filtinium, causing it to lose its buoyancy. After being introduced to the surface, many other mysticytes lost their lives due to a
change in pressure that caused extreme nose bleeds, headaches, or even death.
Being new to the surface world of Caxtrin, mysticytes have no large cities or settlements to call their own. Though many have found solace in the
city of Dragon Keep in northwestern Senterio, most of them wander the land free of any dwelling. Those that have decided to settle down have done
so in cities that do not occupy many Darkyns, or at least as far away from them as they can get.
History
These creatures were never seen on Caxtrin before the release of the Darkyn, and are quite rare to find still. It is thought
that Ensis, the God of Light, released them unto the world when Deltayn took over, hoping that they could somehow bring an end to His ultimate
power over Caxtrin. They are still quite mysterious and never live as normal commoners, usually roaming the land in search of ways to overthrow
the Darkyn.
The mysticytes have actually been successful in holding the fortress of Dragon Keep from the dominating power of the Darkyns. They have not
reclaimed any large cities from the Darkyns yet, but continue their epic goal of bringing freedom to the lands once again.
Beliefs
The only God that the mysticytes will put their entire faith toward is Ensis, the God of Light. They will sometimes follow
other deities on certain occasions, but only those that go against Deltayn. They will not, under any circumstance, follow any God or Goddess
that is seen as evil.
Habits
Mysticytes seek to bring an order of goodness to the world, and believe that no evil to any extent should be tolerated. They
will try to help the weak if it is possible, but will not stray from their ultimate goal if there would be any confliction. Killing those that
do not deserve to be is completely unacceptable to mysticytes, but their idea of what is acceptable can be quite distorted at times, claiming
that it was done for goodness. Though their ideas are noble, and their actions always reverent, there have been times when a mysticyte has killed
a person because of something others would see as trivial. This does not happen very often, but it has become a result of these holy creatures.
Laziness is not a trait that the mysticytes know too well. They are energetic and always feel the need to be doing something. This can get them
into trouble, and there have been times when a lone mysticyte decides to rush headlong into a large city controlled by Darkyns, intent on ending
their evil reign in one quick charge. This never ends up as planned, and they would become smarter for the mistake if they were still alive to
learn from it. This happens when a mysticyte has finally snapped and can’t take the evil that is spreading around him or her, but only happens
to those weak of mind.
A mysticyte that has been determined bad or tainted will have his or her horn cut off by others of this race. This painful punishment is the most
severe, as he or she will lose all abilities of the horn and will no longer be trusted by others (-25 TRU if this happens to a character).
Abilities
The horn that adorns the head of this race has the ability to sense things that normal people cannot. It can Sense Alignment if
the character makes a PRC check upon meeting the individual. Those that have a MNT of 55 or higher can resist this by blocking MG ATK of the character
(professions that do not receive MG ATK must then have the Character Skill of Attunement).
These characters cannot be affected with Sneak Attacks or ambushes, and will always be able to defend and act upon assailants as being aware of their presence.
Mysticytes are never affected with Blind, Dark, or other ways that vision is usually limited since their horn still senses things for them.
The alignment of these characters must be Good or Virtuous unless the character is somehow a renegade mysticyte.
