Description
Darkyns have a grayish hue to their skin with an iridescent tint that makes it seem to shimmer in the light. Their body structures are a
bit shorter than humans and very slender. Their faces display a mesh of sharpened teeth that thrust from their mouths when they smile, and their ears are
slightly large and bat-like.
Origin
The Darkyn capitol of Meltoli lays deep underground, and is believed to be located under Paesius, the Isle of Dragons. Mortal eyes, other
than that of Darkyns, have never landed upon this awesome spectacle of a city that is clustered into the walls and floor of an immense cavern. Other Darkyn
settlements and cavern villages frequently dot the underground landscape of Caxtrin. These were originally used to plan and launch their grand attack on the
surface dwellers in the name of Deltayn, the God they claim as the only true creator of this world.
History
Highly religious creatures, the Darkyns believe that they were created by Deltayn, or ”The Great One” in complete secrecy in hopes that
one day they would conquer all of Caxtrin in His name. In order to hide His creation from the other Gods, He needed to make them live underground and away
from the rest of the world. For five hundred years they lived under the surface where they awaited a great sign from Deltayn. Finally, when that sign came
and dragons were released upon the world, the Darkyns came to the surface and began their terrible reign of Caxtrin. When this happened, Deltayn shrouded
the world in constant darkness so as to shield the brightness of the sun for his creations that see best with minimal light.
They came swiftly, riding on the backs of death, and delivering that very death upon the lands. The people that dwelled on the surface did not have a chance
to act, and many were swallowed up in the blanket of darkness that fell upon them. Many lives were lost, and eventually many cities and kingdoms fell into
the demands of the Darkyns. This is what caused the world to become what it is today.
Beliefs
The only God that the Darkyns will put their complete faith toward is Deltayn. The people of this race will deal with any Darkyn or other
person that does not believe in His ultimate goal quite swiftly and harshly.
Habits
Darkyns believe in a good execution and torture to anyone that does not believe in or fit into their ways of life. They do not have the
inclination that their God is evil in any way, and will not take pleasure in doing evil deeds out of the knowledge that they are doing so. In fact, Darkyns
are under the impression that their God is holy and innocent, being the savior of their people and all others on the surface. The goal of each Darkyn is to
preach and spread the word of Deltayn, and kill all those that claim Him as anything other than perfect. They are very good at deceiving the less intelligent
races into believing that Deltayn is the ultimate God for them, and that He has a strong “love” for the beings that claim Him as their savior.
Darkyns are, however, evil to the core and seem to enjoy slaughtering anyone for whatever reason they can come up with. Of course, when they claim that their
evil deeds are the will of Deltayn, it makes them seem righteous and they believe that they truly are doing the world “good.” The cruel harshness of these
beings keeps the masses in line as the Darkyns have reign over most of the world, making sure that all others stay as devoted followers to their God. They
are methodical about their ways of dealing with those they see as enemies, and will go to great lengths to punish those they claim as “corrupt,” which includes
anyone not following the church’s law.
Since the Darkyns and their religion have infected most of the world like a plague, the leaders of this race have absolute rule over everyone. They try to keep
their own people out of trouble when possible, and each Darkyn watches the other’s back. However, they are not afraid to deal with one of their kind and send
him or her to the “Void,” where Deltayn will deal with their soul.
