This grotesque bug creature looks similar to a snake with a hard exoskeleton that covers its torso. The body of an orpus constantly oozes with yellowish pus, which holds many forms of diseases and is a nesting ground for other smaller insects. Its long body has many legs that propel it across the ground, but it can sit upright and strike at prey when needed. It also has a thick stinger as a tail that can inject poison or be used to help lay eggs inside of victims.

These creatures may choose to inject Poison into their prey on a successful hit if the victim does not make a Poison Resistance check, but may not use this in conjunction with any other ability. The poison will inflict 3 pts of dmg every seg for 1 rd per unblocked hit of the attack. Poison may be injected into a victim with a successful hit from the stinger or mouth.

An orpus can lay eggs inside of a victim with a successful hit from its stinger. This is used as a defense to protect the young and incubate them within another body when the creatures fears for its own life. This will require 3 or more hits to get through to a victim and cannot be used with the Poison ability. The use of this ability must be decided before ATK is rolled. A victim that has had eggs laid within its body will suffer from severe infections, and will be unable to use the particular limb after one day of infection. The only way to remove these eggs would be to amputate the limb or area, have them surgically removed, or light the affected area on fire for at least 15 seconds.

These creatures may choose to inflict their prey with Disease on a successful hit if the victim does not make a HEA check, but may not use this in conjunction with any other ability. If 3 or more hits are unblocked when this ability is used, the victim will instead be infected with Plague unless a -20 HEA check is made.
